Long Drive Tip #2: Get Your Lead Shoulder Back to Hit It Extra Long

Former teacher of Jason Zuback teaches you how to get your shoulders back for more power

Imagine driving the ball the length of four football fields! Well, you just might see it next week as the world’s longest drivers convene for the 44th annual World Long Drive Championship at WinStar World Casino and Resort on the Texas/Oklahoma border. Golf Channel’s live coverage begins Tuesday night, September 3rd, with the Women’s and Masters Championship, and concludes Wednesday night, September 4th, under the lights with the Men’s Championship.

To get you ready for next week’s championships, we’re running a long drive tip each day this week from Golf Channel Academy lead coaches Paul Horton and Bob McArthur from the Golf Academy at Heritage Pointe in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Horton and McArthur have worked with numerous professional golfers and athletes, including six-time World Long Drive champion Jason Zuback (pictured) and eight-time Canadian Long Drive champion Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk.

In today’s video tip, McArthur shares a backswing drill he worked on with Zuback to squeeze out a few extra yards off the tee. Work on this drill at home or on the range and see what it can do for your distance off the tee!
