Halloween Tip: Pitching Off a Tight Lie

Chris George teaches you a Halloween tip for overcoming tight lies

Trick or Treat! It’s Halloween, and for many golfers, the scariest shot is one that requires hitting off a tight, firm surface. Why? Because there’s no cushion of grass or room to slide the clubhead underneath the ball; no margin for error. The natural instinct is to try and help the ball up in the air, which leads to a variety of fat and thin shots.

Even more frightening to the average golfer is when they have to hit a delicate pitch shot off a tight lie, maybe even over a bunker. Not even Freddie Krueger and all of his razor-sharp blades could cut underneath the ball.

Be frightened no more! In the below video clip, Golf Channel Academy lead coach Chris George, Head of Instruction at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., shares with you some of the pros’ secrets to hitting off tight lies. Check it out and watch those fear of tight lies fade away for good.
