Maria is the Owner and Director of Instruction for the Golf Channel Academy with Maria Palozola, based at Big Bend Golf Center in the St. Louis suburb of Valley Park. She is also Owner/Director of Instruction for St. Louis Golf Lessons, LLC.

An accomplished coach and player, Maria is ranked by her peers as one of Golf Digest’s “Best Teachers” in the state of Missouri. She was also recently named to the inaugural list of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional’s Top 50 LPGA Teachers, presented in partnership with Women’s Golf Journal.

A five-time LPGA Midwest Section Teacher of the Year (2008, ’11, ’13, ’15 & ’16), Maria has been teaching golf for nearly 25 years. She is the former Director of Instruction for The Michael Jordan Golf Center and Midwest Golf Lab in St. Louis, and current Head Professional for the Missouri Athletic Club. In addition, Maria founded the St. Louis Women’s Golf Academy and is co-founder of MyGolfInstructor.com. Her many teaching certifications include Titleist Performance Institute (Golf Fitness Instructor and Junior Level 2 Instructor), BodiTrak, GolfPsych and Eyeline Golf (4 Putting Elements), and she’s a Certified Callaway Club Fitter. Maria also runs the St. Louis West County Chapter of the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Club.

Palozola enjoyed a stellar amateur career, winning two St. Louis District Championships and a Missouri State High School Championship at St. Joseph’s Academy, before moving onto the University of South Alabama and capturing the 1993 Missouri State Amateur and All-Sunbelt Conference Player honors. As a professional, she competed in a number of LPGA Tour events from 1999 to 2002, including the 2000 LPGA Championship. Among her most notable professional wins are the Illinois Open and LPGA Midwest Section Championship.

Big Bend Golf Center is Maria’s main location for private lessons and instruction. The fully-covered, year-round practice facility offers a double-decker range with mats and a grass teeing area as well. There’s also a putting green and short-game practice area. On-course playing lessons, golf schools and other instruction programming are also offered seasonally from April through October at The Landings at Spirit Golf Club in Chesterfield, and private lessons are available at The Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Jason has been providing private instruction for men, women and juniors for seven years now. An Assistant Coach with the USA Junior National Golf Team in St. Louis, Jason is currently working on his U.S. Kids Golf certification and TPI Golf Fitness Instructor certification. An accomplished player, he tied for fourth among amateurs at the 2012 Missouri Open and T-8th at the 2016 St. Louis Pub Links Open.

J.R. Siracusa

J.R. worked as an assistant to St. Louis-area Master Club Fitter John Kelly for four years prior to joining Maria’s staff. A U.S. Kids Golf Certified Instructor, J.R. specializes in club fitting and repair and is very knowledgeable in today’s technology, including SAM PuttLab and K-Vest 3D Swing Motion Analysis. An accomplished player, he competed for three seasons on the University of Missouri-St. Louis’ men’s golf team.

Alisha Matthews

Alisha is a Staff Instructor for the Golf Channel Academy with Maria Palozola. An accomplished amateur player, Alisha posted one individual win and ten top-10 finishes for Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and broke the Missouri Valley Conference single-round scoring record in 2012. An LPGA member since 2016, she is a U.S. Kids Golf Certified Instructor and TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor.
