John is the Director of Golf Instruction at his eponymous Golf Academy at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla. He joined the legendary resort in 2005 and soon developed and implemented his “Total Package Golf” system, a multi-faceted method that includes world-class instruction, club fitting, fitness, course management and mental approach.

As a PGA Class-A Professional, John has earned numerous accreditations from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), including Certified Fitness Professional, Prominent Club Fitter and Leadership Advisor. He has instructed golfers of all skill levels from beginners to PGA Tour champions. Among his noteworthy students are a U.S. Open champion, U.S. Amateur winner and NCAA champion. In 2010, John was named the South Florida Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year, and in 2011 the South Florida Section PGA Teacher of the Year.

Prior to joining The Breakers, John had extensive tenures with Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland—where he spent six years as the Club’s Director of Golf Instruction—and Jim McLean Golf Schools. During his eight years teaching at the Jim McLean Golf School in Miami, he designed the Jim McLean Learning Center in Michigan and then became the Center’s Director of Instruction for two years, eventually overseeing all McLean Schools as Vice President of Operations for McLean Enterprises.

An accomplished player, John played his collegiate golf at Loyola University and also competed on the Australian/Asian Tour and a number of Florida mini-tours.

Students at the John Webster Golf Academy have access to two state-of-the-art practice facilities and championship courses—The Breakers Ocean Course (Palm Beach) and Rees Jones® Course (West Palm Beach)—not to mention a world-class instruction team driven by a deep, authentic love of the game. The Ocean Course academy features indoor-outdoor hitting bays, a short-game practice area and 6,000-square-foot putting green, while the Rees Jones® Course facility boasts an expansive, double-sided driving range, two 480-square-foot hitting bays equipped with video swing analysis, two short-game greens with bunkers, and an indoor-outdoor learning center.

Kevin Compare

Kevin is a Lead Instructor with the JWGA at The Breakers. A member of the PGA of America since 1986, Kevin has more than 50,000 hours of instruction to his credit. As a certified PGA Master Professional in Instruction, he has served as the lead instructor for many of the PGA’s playing and teaching workshops. Notable students include a U.S. Women’s Open Champion and Senior Amateur Champions of Mexico, New Zealand, Bermuda, Canada, and Europe.

Tracy Mount

Tracy is a Lead Instructor with the JWGA at The Breakers. A Certified PGA of America member and TPI Golf Fitness Instructor, Tracy has a diverse work history that has centered on golf instruction, golf travel, club fitting and golf fitness. He was named the Teacher of the Year in 2012 by the Cape Cod Chapter of the New England PGA for his work at Nantucket Golf Academy, where he has spent his summers teaching since 2011.

Dan McLellan

Dan is the lead instructor of junior golf at the JWGA at The Breakers. Prior to joining The Breakers in 2006, he attended Johnson and Wales University in North Miami, where he played for legendary coach Dave Adamonis. A U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Honorable Mention Teacher, he is a second-generation PGA Professional; his father is a past president of the South Florida PGA and a member of the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame.

Jimmy Tirone

Jimmy is an Instructor with the JWGA at The Breakers. A graduate of Penn State University’s PGA Golf Management Program, Jimmy has been a Class A PGA Member since 2012. Previously, he was an Assistant Golf Professional at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla., and managed the junior golf program at famed Oakmont Country Club—site of the 2016 U.S. Open Championship—where he worked alongside legendary golf professional Bob Ford.

Meghan Mahoney

Meghan is an Instructor with the JWGA at The Breakers. She spends her summers teaching at Miacomet Golf Club on Nantucket Island and has also taught at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn., and the Harmony Golf Preserve in Orlando, Fla. Meghan has played an instrumental role in developing junior programs in both Florida and Nantucket, and has had the opportunity to work with players of all ages and skill levels, including PGA and LPGA Tour players.

Josh Weaver

Josh is an Assistant Teaching Professional and Club Fitter with the JWGA at The Breakers. A graduate of Ferris State University’s Professional Golf Management Program, he has worked with several of the industry’s top teaching professionals, including 2009 PGA National Teacher of the Year, Mike Bender. Josh is proficient with Trackman and Foresight launch monitors, and also specializes in club fitting, as a certified fitter both through Titleist and Ping.

Kelsi Kavanagh

Kelsi is a Fitness Coach with the JWGA at The Breakers. A TPI Certified Fitness Professional since 2016, Kelsi brings a strong background in golf and fitness to The Breakers. A former captain and MVP on Monmouth University’s women’s golf team, Kelsi spent two years at Long Island University as an Assistant Women’s Golf Coach, where she oversaw daily golf practice activities, and the strength and conditioning of the team. She currently spends her summers leading the fitness program for The Westport Club in Nantucket, Mass.
