Hank is the Owner, Founder and Director of Instruction for the Hank Johnson School of Golf, with two Birmingham, Ala.-area locations at Timberline Golf Club and Bent Brook Golf Club. The 2004 PGA National Coach of the Year, Hank has been named to Golf Magazine’s list of the “Top 100 Teachers in America” as well as Golf Digest’s “50 Best Teachers” list. He is also a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

Born in Birmingham, Hank played his collegiate golf at Auburn University, where he finished runner-up in the 1962 SEC Championships. He later played the PGA Tour for two seasons before turning his attention to coaching, where he has established himself as one of the all-time greats. Johnson’s many students have included World Golf Hall of Famers and major champions Hubert Green and Tom Kite, PGA Tour winners Steve Lowery and Tom Purtzer, and LPGA Tour winners Sherri Steinhauer, Nancy Scranton and Michelle Estill. He has also coached numerous collegiate, junior and amateur players.

A five-time winner of the Dixie PGA Horton Smith Award (1978, ’80, ’82, ’83 and 2006) for his “outstanding and continuing contributions to PGA education, Johnson has also been named the Dixie Section PGA Teacher of the Year (1997) and PGA Professional of the Year (1985).

Scott has been with the Hank Johnson School of Golf since 2010, building the school’s long-term junior development program into one of the most successful in the Southeast. A TPI Level 3 Certified Junior Coach and Power Coach Level 2 Certified Coach, Scott has also designed one of the most comprehensive course management programs in the country. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where he played varsity golf for three years.

Mickey Smith

Mickey is the Director of Golf at Bent Brook Golf Club. A Class A PGA Member since 1991, Mickey has more than 30 years experience teaching individuals and groups of all ages and abilities, including winners on both the PGA Tour and former NGA Hooters Tour. He is one of only 13 Certified PGA Instructors in the state of Alabama.
